General Information. The independent illustrated academic journal Acta Eurasica (in Russian Vestnik Yevraziyi) has started issuing since 1995. Irina Madii, Vyacheslav Muradov and Sergei Panarin are the founders of the jouranl. The journal was registered in the Committee on Press of the Russian Federation on April 25, 1998; the registration number of it is 012668. In the beginning Acta Eurasica was sponsored by the Friedrich Nauman Liberal Foundation and the "Open Society" Institute. It is currently financed by the education, research and publishing center "Acta Eurasica" with the funds granted by the Ford Foundation.
Acta Eurasica is the journal about the historical and contemporary life in the space of Eurasia, which is, to our mind, corresponding to the space of the former Soviet Union (more detailed information about the purposes, ideology and sections of the magazine is available in Russian in the sections of Archive, Manifest). Culture Studies, History, Political Science, Sociology and Social Anthropology hold the predominant position in the magazine. All the articles combine an original idea of the plot and newness of a view with its accessibility for quite a broad circle of readers (scientists, post-graduate students, students, practical workers in different spheres). Also reviews, scientific biographies, archive materials, memoirs and interviews are presented.
In the journal, all the articles are distributed in the following headings: "Eurasianism", "Territories", "Communication", "Education", "People", "Institutes", "Peoples", "Myths", "Security", "Regions", "Stereoscope", "Lively Voice" and "Guide".
The editorial board of the journal consists of Yurii Alexandrov (Institute of Oriental Studies), Anatolii Vyatkin (IOS), the editor-in chief of the journal Diasporas, Grigorii Kosach (Moscow State University Institute of Asian and African Studies), Eduard Kul'pin (IOS), Alexei Malashenko (Moscow Center of Carnegie Endowment), Nurbulat Masanov (Kazakhstan, Almaty, historian, ethnographer, publicist), Alexander Meshcheryakov (IOS), Sergei Panarin (IOS, the ERPC "Acta Eurasica"), Dmitrii Rayevskii (IOS), Anatoly Khazanov (the USA, Madison, the University of Wisconsin), Caroline Humphrey (Great Britain, University of Cambridge), Lyudmila Chvyr' (IOS).
